Why can’t I connect my Gimbal/Payload to gTune?

Created by Gremsy Support Team, Modified on Tue, 28 Apr at 10:06 AM by Gremsy Support Team

If you are unable to connect your gimbal/payload to gTune, please check the following:

1. Power Supply

Supply the correct voltage and current according to the product specifications. Avoid using a power source with unknown parameters or exceeding the standard.

2. Led status

- Green LED: startup successful

- Red LED: startup unsuccessful

- Blue / Pink LED: The gimbal is connected to the Flight Controller (FC). Please disconnect the Control Cable.

3. USB Cable

Ensure the USB cable is properly connected. If possible, try another cable (a data cable is recommended).

4. Connection (PC/Mac ↔ Gimbal)

Reconnect the device, try a different USB port, and make sure the gimbal is powered on.

5. gTune Version

Confirm you are using gTune version 1.4.9.5 or above. If not, update to the latest version and try again.

6. Device Manager Check (Windows)

Open Device Manager → Ports (COM & LPT) and check for: Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge

If this COM port is detected, the gimbal is recognized and there is likely no hardware issue.

The issue may be caused by an incomplete firmware upgrade → please re-flash the firmware via bootloader mode.

7. Restart gTune

Close and reopen gTune, then follow this guide: here

Note: If you are using gimbal, so there is one more important step to check:

1.Check camera mounting status (no power)

Confirm whether the camera has been mounted onto the gimbal.

If not mounted: mount the camera properly and perform balancing.

If mounted: move to step 2.

2. Check 3-axis balance (Pan/Tilt/Roll) (No power)

Confirm the camera is fully balanced on all 3 axes.

Quick check method:

Rotate the camera to any position.

If the camera stays in place and does not rotate back → balance is correct.

If the camera rotates automatically →  the gimbal is not balanced. Please rebalance it.

3. Check mechanical parts

- Ensure camera slide has been properly installed and securely locked

- Ensure top bar plate has been installed

- The top bar must be in direct contact with the camera (to ensure rigidity and stability).

- Ensure that no components are loose or incorrectly installed.

If the issue still persists, please contact Support@gremsy.com or submit a ticket via this portal for further assistance.
