Overview
This article explains how to upgrade the software version of the VIO payload using the OTA Update feature in the VIO Web App.
Before starting, please read the compatibility notes and preparation requirements carefully.
Important Compatibility Notice
For VIO product, If your current VIO software version is v1.4 or earlier, you must first upgrade to v1.5 before proceeding to newer versions. The v1.5 package contains critical components required for compatibility with the v2.x software branch.
Before You Begin
Prepare the following:
- Payload software package (.zip file)
- USB-C cable
- Computer connected to the VIO payload
Important Notes
- Do not unzip the software package.
- Do not disconnect power during the upgrade process.
- Do not unplug the USB connection while the update is in progress.
- The upgrade process typically takes 2–3 minutes.
Configure the Connection
- Power on the VIO payload.
- Connect the VIO payload to your computer using a USB-C cable.
- Configure your computer's Ethernet adapter with the following settings:

| IP Address | 192.168.55.110 |
| Subnet Mask | 255.255.255.0 |
Note: Any IP address within the 192.168.55.X range can be used, except 192.168.55.1, which is reserved for the payload.
- Open a web browser and navigate to:
http://192.168.55.1:8000
If the VIO Web App loads successfully, you are ready to begin the upgrade.
- Step 1: Open OTA Update
From the VIO Web App, navigate to: OTA Update
- Step 2: Select the Software Package
- Select Manual Update.
- Click Browse.
- Choose the downloaded VIO software package (.zip).
Do not extract the ZIP file before uploading.
- Step 3: Start the Upgrade
Click Update to begin the upgrade process. The system will upload and install the software automatically.
- Step 4: Wait for Completion
The update process may take several minutes.
During this time:
- Do not disconnect power.
- Do not unplug the USB cable.
- Do not close the browser.
- Step 5: Reboot the Payload
Once the upgrade is completed:
- Power cycle the VIO payload.
- Wait approximately 2 minutes for the system to fully boot.
The purple status LED indicates that the payload has started successfully.
- Step 6: Verify the Software Version
After the payload has rebooted:
- Reconnect to the VIO Web App.
- Navigate to the system information page.
- Verify that the displayed software version matches the installed package.
If you cannot Access the Web Setting App
Please verify that:
- The VIO payload is powered on.
- The USB-C cable is connected properly.
- Your computer is configured within the 192.168.55.X subnet.
- No firewall or network restrictions are blocking the connection.
If the upgrade process failed
Please verify that:
- The selected file is the correct VIO software package.
- The ZIP file has not been extracted.
- The upgrade path follows the required version sequence (v1.4 → v1.5 → v2.x).
If Payload Does Not Start After Upgrade
- Wait at least 3 minutes after powering on the payload.
- Restart the payload.
- If the issue persists, contact Gremsy Support Team and provide:
- Payload serial number
- Current software version
- Target software version
- A brief description of the issue
Additional Recommendations
- Back up important configuration data before upgrading.
- Verify all payload functions after the upgrade, including video streaming, tracking, and system connectivity.
- Always use software packages provided by Gremsy.
